The officials then weld the entrance into the apartment basement shut, sealing them inside. They find a staircase leading to none other than the building where the main action is taking place. They walk through the sewer, and some officials follow them down there. They eventually see the emergency vehicles and locate an open manhole cover. The perspective eventually shifts, and we are suddenly with 3 people outside of the apartment building with a camera. He says the only way to get a blood sample now is from Tristana herself. Owen is understandably upset by this turn of events. After uncovering a secret crawlspace, Fernandez finds the vial.

They search the penthouse suite, but do not find the blood vial. The Church wished to find a chemical antidote for possession which they can synthesize from Tristana’s blood. Owen discretely set up shop in this apartment building. They need a vial of her blood, and then they can leave the building. Her name is Tristana Medeiros, and she was an 11-year-old who began showing signs of possession. Owen is looking for a girl, the original one who was possessed. He was sent by the Vatican to investigate the case. Owen is actually a Catholic priest, and that virus was originally a demonic possession scenario. Owen to tell him what the hell is going on, “Because clearly, you know more than me!” says the commander. Owen begins praying over Martos and they shove him in a side bedroom, hanging a crucifix on the door. He is bitten, and almost immediately becomes an infected himself. He turns off the record and is promptly attacked by an infected. Martos, one of the GEO men, enters an apartment where there is a record playing. Owen is an official sent by the Ministry of Health to investigate the outbreak. The virus isn’t airborne they learn, but in fluids like blood and saliva, so the masks they are wearing in the beginning of the film aren’t necessary, Dr.
#Rec 2 movie ending series#
2 was followed by 3: Genesis in 2012.Plot: A series of men dressed in SWAT-like attire (actually from the Grupo Especial de Operaciones, or GEO) go to the apartment building from the first movie to control the out-of-hand situation. This combines with some dangling plotlines, and 2 comes off as not as memorable or fun as the original. In addition to that the military people make some really, really stupid moves. I admire that they tried to change the themes of the movie and take 2 in a different direction, but in some ways, I would have rather stuck with the original (though generic) zombie format). The movie supplements the monster with some creepy zombie kids, but the original monster needed more screentime. Eventually this was explained, but I also felt I was ripped off from a cool monster. I had hoped that 2 would feature the nightmarish monster more, but every time the SWAT team reaches the location where she was hiding, she never showed up.

One of the best parts of was the ending which introduced the source of the infection in a creepy, night-footage sequence before the abrupt ending. When is a zombie movie not a zombie movie? This type of doom does cut down the fear for me in a way because I know that the characters plights are generally pointless…they’re going to die and have to die to stop the spread. It also really dooms the cast by turning the movie into a film similar to Prince of Darkness where getting out could mean death to everyone. This is a different take on the zombie picture and I admire it. Owen works for the church and that the “virus” is actually a form of demonic possession that is passed person to person from a source. There are some scenes in that allude to the twist so I don’t feel it is random, though it could (and does) feel that way. It is hard to talk about 2 without talking about the twist that does make 2 different from its predecessor. Due to the plotlines in the film, a ******spoiler alert****** is in effect for the rest of the review. 2 takes off immediately where left off and provides a kind of different story while providing closure to the original film. It was creative enough to be original, but still fell into the found-footage trap of being difficult to end. It utilized a formula that was becoming extremely popular at the time due to The Blair Witch Project. Was an entertain movie, not great, but entertaining.
